If your plans change after your reservation is confirmed, cancellation notice is required 14 days in advance of your arrival date. You will be refunded your deposit, minus a $25 cancellation fee.
If you cancel your reservation less than 14 days prior to your arrival date, you are responsible for the entire cost of your reservation. Your credit card on file will be charged in full, unless the room(s) rebook. If rooms do rebook, you will be refunded the difference, minus a $25 cancellation fee.
The cancellation fee also applies to changes in your arrival/departure date which result in a shorter stay. No refunds are provided for late arrivals or early departures.
For reservations more than 14 days in advance of your arrival date, a 50% deposit is required at the time of reservation and is charged to the Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover card your provide. The remaining balance is due on the day of check-in and will be charged to the card on file unless other payment arrangements have been made.
For reservations less than 15 days in advance of your arrival date, full payment is required at the time of the reservation. In the event of cancellation, this reservation is non refundable, unless the room can be rebooked.
Here at the Northampton Hotel, we have a two (2) person per room policy. If a party is found to have more than two persons per room, the reservation is subject to cancellation and forfeiture of payment.
Guests must be 21 years of age or be accompanied in a room by a person 21 years of age or older to check-in.
Due to the boutique nature of our hotel, we welcome children ages 8 and above, but cannot accommodate children under 8. If you are a couple traveling with a child over the age of 8, please note that you would be required to book two rooms, per our occupancy policy.
Though the Northampton Hotel was built in the early 1900’s, a three year renovation, completed in 2018, included the addition of a designated handicapped parking space, ramps, accessible bathrooms, and an elevator. We are now able to accommodate customers with disabilities. For booking purposes please note that Room 5 is our ADA Accessible room.

The Northampton Hotel recognizes that pets are considered part of our guests' family, however, we are unable to accommodate pets and have a no pet policy. Please contact us for information about local pet boarding facilities.
Trained service animals that provide assistance for guests with disabilities are not considered pets and are not subject to this policy. Please note that emotional support animals are not considered service animals and fall under our no pet policy.
**Should you be found bringing a pet into the hotel, a fee of $250 will automatically be charged to the credit card on file, plus any other additional charges for damages assessed by our cleaning services provider.
The Northampton Hotel is a non smoking facility. This includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, vape pens, etc. Please be advised that no smoking is allowed on the grounds, in the rooms, or on our porches. Should you smoke or dispose of smoking materials anywhere inside the hotel or within the fenced outdoor area a fee of $500 will automatically be charged to the card on file, plus any additional damage assessed by management
We also cannot permit open flames and/or incense in our rooms and on our porches. Please do not attempt to light candles or incense as it will set off our fire alarms.
The guest will be held responsible for any loss or damage to the hotel property caused by themselves, their guests or any person for whom they are responsible.
Damage to the property, including but not limited to guest rooms, fixtures, furnishings, artwork, décor or linens, will result in a charge of 120% of fair replacement value or necessary cleaning.

Our check-in time is 3pm and our check out time is 11am. An early check-in and/or late check-out may be possible but is not guaranteed, please call the hotel to see what is possible during your stay. A fee may apply for late check-out
Yes, our cafè is currently open to guests and the general public from 8am-2pm Tuesday-Sunday for brunch and beverages. As a guest of the hotel you can have brunch delivered to your room, just ask! (Please note that breakfast/brunch is a la carte for guests and not included in the nightly rate)
Yes, The Northampton Hotel offers free self-parking for guests. Parking can be found along Mason Avenue as well as our private parking behind the hotel.
Although we do not have a gym on site, there is a YMCA just 2.5 miles from the hotel. Daily and weekly passes are available for a fee.
We do not have a pool but luckily we are mere steps from the Cape Charles beach and the Chesapeake Bay, perfect for swimming and soaking up the sun!
